WORK: I am an Edmonton-based freelance writer, and travel writing is my love. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with an English major and Anthropology minor. Since then I have created my business See Jane Write through which I contribute articles and essays to magazines, books and newspapers.
TRAVEL: Tibet, Nepal, India, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, and around North America, especially in the mountains.
I am a mother of two, and traveling with my kids gives me a whole new perspective.
INTERESTS: Meditation, yoga, running, hiking, travel, reading and writing.
CURRENT PROJECTS: I am writing a book about my recent trip to Tibet, Nepal and India with my friend Kushok Lobsang Dhamchoe. He is a Tibetan Buddhist monk who has lived in Edmonton, Alberta since 2000. He escaped Tibet in 1963 and subsequently spent 30 years as a monk at the Dalai Lama's monastery, Namgyal Monastery, in Dharamsala, India. I attempted to take Kushok home to Tibet in 2009, but despite his Canadian citizenship, he was denied entry into his home country. I learned that Tibet is a place of otherworldly beauty, intense sadness, and tight and ever-changing restrictions. This book is currently being considered for publication: stay tuned.
Writers Guild of Alberta: I recently judged a writing contest for the Writers Guild: the Amber Bowerman Memorial Travel Writing Award. Click here to see the 2010 Alberta Literary Awards Shorlist.

Communications Officer at the Gaden Samten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Society. I write press releases, pamphlets and some website material. My friend and teacher Kushok Lobsang Dhamchoe is the centre's Spiritual Director.
